Welcome to VIIPER, INC. Virginians Interested In Protecting Every Reptile.

We are a reptile enthusiast organization based out of Virginia Beach, VA, that formed in February 2008. We intend to educate the public, especially children, about the roles that reptiles play to balance the ecosystem. We also will provide information on which reptile might suit you the best, proper housing, feeding techniques and general information. We are also available for demonstrations for local events & festivals, schools, church groups and parties. Feel free to drop us a line anytime.

We wish to expand through-out Virginia and will even accept members from any state. Please check out our membership
section and see what it takes to be a VIIPER.

Message from Bobby Jenkins
President and Founder 06/2008

Hello and thanks for visiting our website.  My name is Bobby Jenkins, Founder and President.  After owning a Burmese Python for almost 13 years, I recently got back into snakes last year.

I loved going to the pet store to pick up feeders. What would normally take 5 minutes, usually ended up taking an hour. I loved to look at all of the reptiles, supplies and talk with the staff. Afterwards it was back into the car as I looked forward to the next trip. I began to think why there was not a local reptile club. A place where reptile people could get together and share their animals and passions. A gathering to share stories, knowledge, photos and ideas.

After a few days of playing with acronyms, I came up with V.I.I.P.E.R. After posting a few ads on the local Craigslist webpage, the emails started coming in.

Our first meeting was held on February 9, 2008, with a total of  6 attendees. Before the meeting began, Staci Dennis from The Virginian Pilot/The Beacon arrived to conduct interviews and snap a few pictures. Before she left she was well on her way to becoming a reptile fan. I think a great time was had by all.

We’d love to have you join us!
